When his aunt mysteriously vanishes after spending the night at her spooky mansion, 10-year-old Brian McKenzie meets his first monster—clumsy, big-hearted Boo Marang—who jumps from a bedpost and whisks the young boy off to Monster Mania, a land of crazy monsters (located in dark closets everywhere). He helps the monsters battle the evil Osh and a variety of other monsters.

Mania’s hysterical mother leaves the little girl at her aunt’s in the countryside. On her lonely summer holiday, Mania makes friends with a hen. The girl stages a rebellion when she realises why her aunt keeps chickens.

On an ordinary day, Alana is the last girl chosen in her PE class. In the afternoon, she goes to the house of a distant classmate, with no intention of making friends. While they build a model, smoke and even kiss, Alana observes the family up close and finally comes face to face with Clarissa.
